History Family Care Network, Inc. was founded as a public benefit, nonprofit corporation in 1987 by current Executive Director, Jim Roberts, and a group of leaders from the Christian community in San Luis Obispo County. The primary motive behind this effort was to create a family-centered treatment program as an alternative to group home institutional care. What is the Family Care Network? Family Care Network, Inc. is the largest private provider of children and families services on California’s Central Coast. Since its inception 20 years ago, the agency has grown to serve over 2,000 children, youth and families annually in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties through five program divisions: Therapeutic Foster Care Services, Family Support Services, Transitional Housing Services, School-Based Mental Health and Delinquency Prevention Services, and Community-Linked Services. The Family Care Network’s programs are designed to strengthen and preserve families and individuals, and are delivered in partnership with numerous governmental agencies, community-based organizations, schools, churches, local businesses and volunteers.
