ChampionCHIP Timing
We are proud to announce the addition of ChampionCHIP timing at this year’s Miracle Miles for Kids 10k walk/run! ChampionCHIP timing will provide every participant with an accurate, electronically-calculated finish time. Finish times will be recorded through a small chip attached to every participant’s shoe which will be associated with the participant’s bib number. As participants cross the finish line, they will pass over a mat which will record the exact time the participant finished the race. Through ChampionCHIP timing we will be able to provide all runners/walkers with faster, more-accurate results, as well as an entertaining award ceremony. Please see the details below regarding this exciting addition to this year’s race.
- All participants must attach the chip to their shoe in order to receive a time and be officially entered in the race.
- Timing chips will be available at early bib pick up events (dates to be announced) as well as on race day.
- Participants may bring their race day shoes to early bib pick up to have the chip affixed for them
- All timing chips will be collected as soon as participants cross the finish line. If for some reason a participant is in possession of their chip and is unable to race they must mail their chip back to:
Eternal Timing
179 Niblick Road Unit #184
Paso Robles, CA 93446
(Chip MUST be wrapped in padding)
- Participants will be billed $30 for each unreturned chip.
- To attach the timing chip, simply interlace the secure-tie strap with shoe laces.
- Participants desiring to use a ChampionCHIP timing chip they already own must indicate so during the registration process.
- For more details or to view a sample chip visit http://www.championchip.com/
Course:
Enjoy but be Careful!
Miracle Miles for Kids is run on a scenic 6.2 mile stretch of flat beach. The tide is low and the sand compact with kilometer and mile markers to help measure progress. Depending on the season’s rainfall, the course may include several water crossing areas at which bridges are provided for those who wish to keep their feet dry. If participants become dehydrated, sustain an injury or just need a break, they can take advantage of the mid-course Water/First Aid Station.
Please be mindful that there is a rocky point to cross 2.5 miles into the course. Follow the cones for the safest and quickest route. There will be spotters available to help guide participants through this brief piece of the course.
The Family Care Network, Inc. is partnering with the State of California in an effort to preserve the beauty of our beaches and protect the Snowy Plover Bird. This endangered bird makes its home on the Central Coast beaches. To help in this effort, please adhere to the following requirements while participating in this event:
1. Please do not bring dogs or kites to the event as they are not allowed on State Park beaches.
2. Please stay clear of the soft sand area and sand dunes located on the right side of the course as this is where Snow Plovers make their home.
3. Please do not leave trash, water bottles, etc. on the beach at any time.
